Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Technical Support Scientist, for our site near Frederick, MD to provide pre- and post-sales technical support for our NGS, qPCR and PCR reagent products including the Q qPCR instrumentation.
The individual will be a key member of a small Technical Support team, responsible for providing product support to customers and distribution partners globally. A strong background in Next Generation Sequencing, qPCR and molecular biology is required, along with the ability to communicate technical information to varied levels of scientific customers. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, solutions oriented person that can work autonomously and in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize scientific expertise to provide pre & post-sales product support and troubleshooting support via phone and email
- Manage incoming phone, email & web inquiries from customers (both internal and external) and work towards resolving the inquiry in a timely manner.
- Maintain the technical support cases database within SF.com
- Liaise with in-house groups including Sales, Marketing, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance and Customer Service to resolve customer inquiries in a timely manner.
- Work autonomously in the lab to perform wet lab experiments for all Quantabio product lines
- Can include assay troubleshooting, complaint investigation, workflow optimization
- Develop and maintain a high level of technical product knowledge
- Monitor and report any trends in customer inquiries to improve processes and product quality
- Assist in creation and review of technical literature and training resources
Position Requirements
Education:
- MS or Ph.D. (preferable) in molecular biology or equivalent life science discipline
Experience:
- Broad theoretical and practical knowledge of molecular biology, NGS and related techniques.
- Extensive practical/lab experience, and/or at least 5 years within a technical service or field applications role within the life science sector
- Hands on experience with amplification technologies including quantitative PCR and NGS
- Experience with software programs and web-based tools to retrieve and analyze data a plus
- Experience with Salesforce.com is a plus
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence; a self-starter
- Capable and interested in working in a team environment

- Highly driven and motivated person
- Accustomed to working alone or in a team
- Excellent written, presentation and verbal skills, including strong public speaking experience
- Expertise in problem-solving, data analysis and troubleshooting primarily as it relates to reagents and assay design.
- Occasional domestic travel to internal team meetings
- Flex remote working option available, with close proximity to the Quantabio Labs in Frederick.
